This article explains how search works on the Content Platform and provides tips for getting the best results.
The Content Platform offers two types of search indexing: Basic and Premium. The indexing type is set at the catalog level.
Basic and Premium search types
Basic search is available on every catalog at no additional cost. It searches across item codes, names, reference codes, and descriptions. Results are ranked based on keyword frequency and where the match occurs.
Best for:
- Searching by product codes or SKUs
- Finding items by exact name or description
- General browsing by product type
Premium search
Premium search includes all Basic features plus AI-powered semantic ranking. It understands the meaning and intent behind search queries, not just keywords.
Best for:
- Complex or conversational queries
- Finding items based on context (e.g., "cabinets with two drawers")
- Visual similarity searches (e.g., searching "dog" may return a dog-shaped toy even if "dog" is not in the item name)
How to use search
How to use search
- Type the name or part of the name for the item in the search bar
- After entering the third character, autofill suggestions will appear
- To search with fewer than 3 characters, press Enter after typing
Sorting results
Once results are returned, sort them by selecting the filter icon:
| Sort Option | Description |
| Relevance | Results that best match the search criteria, most relevant at the top |
| Name | Alphabetical order by name |
| Width | Sorted by item width |
| Height | Sorted by item height |
| Depth | Sorted by item depth |
Filtering results
Results can be filtered by category based on how items are classified within the catalog. Selecting a category displays only the results in that category.
Note: Catalog filters are not activated by default in applications. Available filters may vary by application and category.
For more information on item classification, see this article.
Tips for better search results
Use specific terms
Specific, distinctive terms return better results than generic ones.
Search by code for precision
Product codes and SKUs provide the strongest, most precise results.
Try different terms
If results seem unexpected, try synonyms or alternative terms.
