This article explains how to edit default attributes for items in your catalog. You can modify attributes at different levels to control them.
Attribute Processing Order
Attributes are processed in the following hierarchy:
- System/Catalog level – applies to all items by default
- Item level – overrides system/catalog defaults for specific items
- Features and Options level – overrides item-level attributes based on user selections
Editing Attributes for All Items in the Catalog
To apply attribute changes to all items in the catalog:
- Go to the Attributes tab
Open the System folder
Select the required attribute
You can use the Search by Code field to find specific attributes. Enter the required attribute code there. You can also filter the attributes with the following options:
Exact match result – Enable this toggle to show only results that exactly match the search value
Hide default value – Enable this toggle to display only attributes where the default value has been customized (hides attributes with unchanged default values)
- Update the default attributes
Please note that changes made at this level apply to all items in the catalog, unless:
- The attribute is overridden at the item level, OR
- A feature modifies that attribute
Editing Attributes for a Specific Item
To update attributes for a single item:
- Go to the Items tab
- Select the required item
- Go to the Attributes tab
- Update the attribute values
Note: Item-level attributes override system/catalog defaults but can still be modified by features and options.
