This article explains how to use Blender integration to modify item geometry there and sync changes back to the catalog in the Authoring Hub.
Blender is a 3D modeling tool that can be integrated with the Authoring Hub to modify item geometry, apply materials, edit layers and components, update items directly in the catalog.
Please note that Blender version 5.0 or higher is required, and the Authoring Hub Extension plugin must be installed to enable the integration.
Installing the Authoring Hub Extension Plugin
Step 1: Download the Plugin
Download the plugin file from the attachment at the end of this article.
Step 2: Install in Blender
- Open Blender
Go to Edit → Preferences
- Select the Add-ons tab
- Click the dropdown arrow (▼) at the top
- Select Install from Disk
- Browse and select the Authoring Hub Extension file
- Click Install
The plugin should now appear in the add-ons list as Cyncly Authoring Hub Extension.
Using Blender Integration
Step 1: Send Item to Blender
- In the Authoring Hub, select an item
- Click Actions
Select Send to Blender
Step 2: Modify Geometry in Blender
Make the required modifications (for example, edit geometry, apply materials or adjust layers).
Step 3: Sync Changes Back to Authoring Hub
- In Blender, select the modified geometry
- Select the Cyncly Authoring Hub tab on the side panel
Click Update Item Geometry in Authoring Hub
Step 4: Verify Changes in Authoring Hub
- Return to the Authoring Hub
- Open the item
- The updated geometry will be applied to the item
- Save the item to confirm changes
